Hi Koda N, thanks for posting. This sounds like a really interesting concept. It’s exactly the type of thing that we all need to be engaging in, not just to try to reduce waste, but also because in these current times, with the economic pressures that many of us are facing, anything that can help to reduce the amount of money that we might otherwise be spending on new products has got to be good.
For people in other parts of the country who may not be able to get to the store in South London this link should help you to locate other scrap stores across the UK

Title: Switch it off, plug it out
I love the website, it’s got some really good ideas. I see that you touched on the turning off the light when you leave the room, which is great. I would add to that and suggest that when people are away from the room that they turn the TV or the radio off too, until they come back to the room. And when you go to bed or leave the house, switch everything off at the mains. Also just take a bit of extra time to switch off the tvs rather than leaving them on stand by.
As this link from Greenyplace shows, it’s potentially a lot of extra costs being added to your yearly electricity bills Do appliances still use electricity when plugged in but turned off?

Thanks for posting Tryn2bbetter. You’re spot on. It’s not just a case of trying to do your bit to save energy usage and cut back on demand for electricity, but there’s also the savings that you could make on your electricity costs.
